Adolfo Sanchez: Amour Collection

Designer Adolfo Sanchez presented his latest collection, Amour, on the 12th of November in downtown Los Angeles. Amour is an aesthetically delightful blend of vintage and modern, feminine and masculine, and sexy and demure. Perhaps the best way to describe the collection would be “balance.” Everything worked together in the most cohesive of ways while staying true to the theme of the collection.

Sanchez has built a brand around his impeccable attention to detail and couture work that offers something new with each collection. From lingerie-inspired pieces to neon green party dresses to billowing gowns for weddings and other formal events; he’s done it all and gets it right with apparent ease. This spirit of progression and adventure has propelled Sanchez into becoming one of LA’s most established and sought-after designers – just ask his showroom, Maison Privée. Sanchez’s designs have been seen on a long list of celebrity clientele including Lil Nas X, Esther Anaya, Laverne Cox, and Ariana Grande to name a few. Amour is certainly no exception to this rule of creative progression and uniqueness.

As one might expect, shades of purple, pink, and red dominated the showcase but not in a way that felt cliché or banal. Amour elicited a spirit of fun and whimsy while maintaining its elegance. Paired with Barollo Italy shoes, the completed looks seemed like something straight out of a fashion museum, though entirely wearable.

Some standout pieces included a pantsuit that invoked the spirit of 70s disco in the chicest way, a purple dress featuring a long train that seemed to float through the air with ease, a fitted lilac dress with floral embellishments, a tiered pink mullet dress with feather embellishments, a red pantsuit featuring a bow-shaped top (perfect for the holidays), and a long black gown with crystal & chain detailing on the shoulders.

Overall, Amour has something to offer for an array of tastes and styles. It’s not limited by its own cohesion and manages to transcend any obvious tropes one may associate with a collection directly linked to love and romance. With continual success and ever-gorgeous designs, I cannot wait to see Sanchez’s next collection. There is no doubt that it will once again be something innovative, elegant, and charming.
